Token Border Supplements

A Foundry VTT add-on module that enhances how token borders are displayed allowing improved visual clarity, especially for large tokens on hexagonal grids.

How it works

This module provides several options for the display of borders in settings. On gridless scenes, tokens are defaulted to elliptical instead of the foundry default of rectangular.

Module Configuration

• Border Visibility Mode - When to render the border. Options are Hovered (foundry default behavior), Always, or Always in Combat.
• Border Position - Whether to force the border to be always on top or always behind the token art. Default leaves the stock foundry behavior of on top when hovered.
• Border Width - Set the border width for tokens. Defaults to the Foundry default value of 4.
• Fill Border Contents - Add a translucent fill to the token's border. This can be conditionally shown with the same modes as token names and bars, plus an option for in combat. Defaults to Never.
• Border Style - Customizes the style of the outline for the border.
• Default Hex Shape and Default Gridless Shape - Change the default shape for new tokens on the respective grit types.

Additionally, there are colorpicker settings in order to set the border color for tokens depending on their current state and affiliation. Color configuration is per-client.

Token Appearance Settings

• Hide Border - When Always Show Border is enabled, this setting allows the token to override it. Defaults to false.
• Hide Border Fill - When Fill Border Contents is enabled, this setting hides it for just this token. Defaults to false.
• Width and Height - On gridless, these have a scroll increment of 0.05 allowing for more fine-grained adjustments.
• Hex Shape and Gridless Shape - In the prototype token config, allows overriding the default shape for the actor.
