Dig Down

Perform deep searches inside folder stuctures, on sidebars and fuzzy searches on compendiums/sidebars

 alt-text alt-text

How to use

This module has four main features

  1. Deep Folder Search: This feature is optional, if enabled it will allow you to search in subfolders when using the file picker
  2. Fuzzy search: This will be automatic, what this does is it finds the closest matches to your search, for example searching for accolite will show "Acolyte" in the results, this works on compendiums and actor sidebar and it's enabled by default
  3. Prop search: starting a search with "!" will search in the properties defined in the settings. For example if "data.details.cr" is a property defined in the settings searching for !1 will filter for creatures with cr 1
  4. Deep search: the deep search starts with the "&" symbol, this search will look into the items to find a property or value that matches the search. For example searching for the name of an image will filter for any entity that is using that image

NOTICE: The search might be slow on huge directories

I cannot get Deep File Search to work. I’ve installed the module, selected the Deep File Search option in the module’s settings and let the cache build overnight, but I do not see any different behavior when searching in the file picker. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what they mean by file picker. I’m understanding that to mean that when click on the “Use Image from Foundry Server” button and Image or Video Browser window comes up, that I should be able to type text in the search bar and would expect results from subfolders as well as items in the currently open folder. But that doesn’t happen and I see no other option to allow it.
There are no screen shots in any of the Dig Down documentation on Git Hub, FoundryVTT-Hub, or the Foundry VTT packages/modules page that gives a screen shot of the “Deep File Search” in action. So I don’t know if something went wrong in the installation or the building of my cache.
