High above a boiling sea floats an immense, storm-capped fortress. From this vantage, the Dragon Emperor Cyraxathon wages a war of conquest against all he surveys, directing his draconic generals from a throne of white fire. To put an end to his warring, the characters must sail the blistering waters and infiltrate his stronghold – but on the way their resolve will be tested, for not all is as it seems, and there are maddening secrets locked away in the dragonlord's Bastion of Flame…
This module is an adventure designed for a party of five level 7 characters, and takes them to level 8. It can plug easily into an existing campaign or be run as a short (3-5 sessions) standalone adventure. Additionally, this adventure also acts as Part III of The Immortal Flame, a three-part campaign composed of separate adventure arcs.
Throughout the adventure, there are special Campaign Guide sections that detail mechanics, plot points, or characters that might function or act differently in the campaign version of the adventure. Additionally, the surrounding setting and overarching narrative is fleshed out further in The Immortal Flame, a separate campaign book. None of these resources are necessary to run Bastion of Flame as a standalone adventure.
