War! The armies of the Drakkari Ascendancy - a vast dragon-ruled empire - scour the lands, carving their way with fire and steel. They encircle and isolate cities while burning surrounding villages, as though trying to root out some mysterious corruption. So far, their advance has been unstoppable. But the winds of war are shifting, and a small band of adventurers are nearing the city of Riversend with a most precious cargo. To keep it safe, they will have to defend the walls of Riversend and survive the Smokestorm Siege…
This module is an adventure designed for a party of five level 5 characters, and takes them to level 6. It can plug easily into an existing campaign or be run as a short (3-5 sessions) standalone adventure. Additionally, this adventure also acts as Part II of The Immortal Flame, a three-part campaign composed of separate adventure arcs.
Throughout the adventure, there are special Campaign Guide sections that detail mechanics, plot points, or characters that might function or act differently in the campaign version of the adventure. Additionally, the surrounding setting and overarching narrative is fleshed out further in The Immortal Flame, a separate campaign book. None of these resources are necessary to run Smokestorm Siege as a standalone adventure.
