Adventurers always start somewhere; nobody is born a great and mighty warrior, ready to slay a dragon from the day of their birth. Some adventurers start in the military, honing their skills as a warrior in mortal combat. Others start as artisans and traders, creating things with their own two hands. And a few start in Frostglen, freezing their butts off.
Such is the case here. Frostglen is a decent-sized city, especially for this far to the north, situated right in the middle of the arctic tundra. There are comings and goings, shops and merchants to visit, and an eccentric old man who lives in a cave outside the city. All perfectly normal and natural things to have about. Until something happens, that is.
Unbeknownst to anyone in the city, the old man’s cave sits on top of a large mass of pure kyaverite, a rare mineral found in the Frostbitten Wastes. Its properties are mysterious and its powers are unknown, yet it’s well known in the region as a religious artifact. And unfortunately for the old man in the cave, his kyaverite has attracted some rather unwanted attention.
When one day the old man suddenly cuts off communication, people grow worried. Perceus Haventop, mayor of Frostglen, and Regina Englebroot, socialite, each call for adventurers to go and check on the old man. Each has their own reasons but what neither of them can anticipate is they’re playing right into a new enemy’s hands. And that there are creatures at play ready to. . . swap places.
For, in fact, a pair of dopplegangers have moved into the region, drawn by the mysterious kyaverite’s seemingly magical powers. They have begun using this kyaverite to control the town guard in a ploy to wrest control of the town from the rightful rulers.
However, the dopplegangers are not the masters of their fates, nor did they find for themselves their new power; there is something else at work in the region, something much more powerful and nefarious than even they.

In the far reaches of the Frostbitten Wastes, a new adventure begins. While these adventurers may come from humble beginnings, their tales will eventually be sung by bards across the realms. All they have to do is find an old man in a cave first. However, sinister creatures drawn by the kyaverite deposit below the old man’s cave will make that task easier said than done.
Sometimes, adventure just happens. For instance, you might be walking down the road and suddenly come across an attempted murder. And it turns out it occurred because someone fled a military quarantine imposed by the mayor and guards for no reason whatsoever. It does happen. In this case, the only question is what will you do about it?
The climax rapidly approaches. Frostglen’s fate hangs in the balance as we reveal the machinations behind the city’s fall—a doppelganger who is replacing the true mayor and mind-controlling the town guard. It’s up to our adventurers, green they may yet be, to save everyone. Only one question remains: What will they discover on the horizon?
