The party reaches a forest crossing, similar to many they had trailed before.

A man leaned against a weathered crossroads post, calm and unbothered. His top hat reached the sign that says Torncastle 314 miles N. Your barbarian already brandished his axe, as the hairs on his back stiffened. The man smiled at him, as you would smile at a puppy. His voice was calm, cold, and his words were addressed to no one, yet to anyone: "I am here to make a deal, and one of you will take it." He then lifted his gaze, and you caught a glimpse of hellfire in them.
